- Rebel: These are the accounts of former players who have resigned. They can be taken over by a new player who joins the galaxy.
- Renegade: This AI defends planets with TL1 and 2 Strategic Resources (Uranium and Titanium). (See symbols)
- Mutant: This AI defends some marginal and terrestrial planets.
- Pirate: This AI/Player defends systems with TL3 and 4 Strategic Resources (Chromium, Carboneum, Silicium). (See symbols)
- E.D.E.N: This AI [Empire DEfense Network] defends systems with TL5 Stratergic Resources (Plutonium, Antimatter, Wolframium). (See symbols)
Note: Some AIs defend planets, some defend systems. When I say it defends planets you can colonize elsewhere in that system, but don't send warships to that system unless you want war.
Structures
Pirate Faction - Human
The pirate faction is special. In general, most galaxies have an AI controlling the AI faction that does nothing. However, in a few galaxies the pirate faction is player controlled. In these galaxies, the pirate operate as follows:
- Pirates can build Docks and Dens.
- Pirates can build fleets.
- Pirates can colonize other planets in their starting systems, but never colonize new systems.
- Pirates cannot capture systems, but instead gain fame, ship technologies, and project technologies.
- Pirates are limited to basic starting ship techs (TL1) and any technologies they have captured; this means they can capture high level technologies. A pirate with TL5 Cyborg weapons mounted on Pirate Bases is nearly unstoppable.
- Pirates may attack any planet they find that is colonized, though they only gain fame if they attack planets in their fame zone, denoted by
and
.
- Pirates are located near the galactic core.
Pirate Faction - AI
When a human is not controlling the Pirate faction, the Pirate takes several very specific steps toward galactic domination. It tries each item; if it cannot do one, it moves onto the next:
- Deploy a new pirate base if there is a slot.
- If no more slots, try to colonize another planet in the system.
- If pirate has gained Habitable Surface Expansion, begin surface expansion project.
- If there is an asteroid in the system and pirate has gained Asteroid Assembly, begin assembly project.
- If there is a gas giant in the system and pirate has gained Planet Condensation, begin condensing project.
Pirate AI is automatically granted techs on certain days of the game:
- Habitable Surface Expansion: 60 days into the galaxy
- Planet Assembly: 105 days into the galaxy
- Planet Condensation: 105 days into the galaxy
