Note: Some AIs defend planets, some defend systems. When I say it defends planets you can colonize elsewhere in that system, but don't send warships to that system unless you want war.

Pirate Faction - Human

The pirate faction is special. In general, most galaxies have an AI controlling the AI faction that does nothing. However, in a few galaxies the pirate faction is player controlled. In these galaxies, the pirate operate as follows:

Pirate Faction - AI

When a human is not controlling the Pirate faction, the Pirate takes several very specific steps toward galactic domination. It tries each item; if it cannot do one, it moves onto the next:

  1. Deploy a new pirate base if there is a slot.
  2. If no more slots, try to colonize another planet in the system.
  3. If pirate has gained Habitable Surface Expansion, begin surface expansion project.
  4. If there is an asteroid in the system and pirate has gained Asteroid Assembly, begin assembly project.
  5. If there is a gas giant in the system and pirate has gained Planet Condensation, begin condensing project.

Pirate AI is automatically granted techs on certain days of the game:
