Twin EM Cannon Turret
Making use of the EM Cannon on medium hulls proved to be less effective that initially thought. It's large mass to damage ratio and its inability to aim independently of the ship made it cumbersome at best. This weapon, the first experiment with turreted weapons, solves many of these problems. Two EM cannons are mounted close enough to use the same targeting and firing mechanisms, reducing the weight by half. Then this whole assembly is mounted on a independently aimable turret allowing for increased accuracy, removing the inherent penalties to aim at faster moving fighters.

Notes:
- Hulls listed are the minimum hull size to mount/target. All weapons are mountable/targetable on/against any hull size larger than the base size. Targeting a larger hull size results in a damage penalty.
- Effective damage refers to the actual damage times the weapon's rate of fire. This is the total damage that you will do on average a turn, assuming every shot hits.
- Attack rating affects the chance you will hit the enemy ship.
- All data is given at the 3rd technology sublevel (x-3).
